A revised version of my earlier Communication for Accounting Professionals textbook is now available, co-authored with Takashi Hashimoto, professor at Aoyama Gakuin University. The title of the revised book has not changed, but the contents of every chapter have been updated, and several new chapters have been added. These new topics include international financial reporting standards (IFRS) and the huge Madoff ponzi scheme scandal. Female Professors: Harvard vs Tokyo Univ.

OK Univ. of Tokyo, the fight is on...

Over 25% of Harvard Univ. faculty members are female as of March 2010 (see New York Times story). At Univ. of Tokyo--the Harvard of Japan--the number was only 9% as of May 2008. 

The Univ. of Tokyo apparently is aware of Harvard's trend, because in 2008 UT set as a goal to increase the percentage of female professors to at least 25% by March 2010--this month (see UT declaration).

I will report back soon with the results of this important initiative.
