Here Comes Internet2
What does 800 Gbps of bandwidth mean to you? Probably not much, but it will change our lives within five years.
Internet2 is coming.
Researchers believe that within a few years a huge wave of additional internet capacity will allow people to watch crystal clear and cinema-smooth video on mobile phones, or have real-time video conversations with somebody from the other side of the globe. Of course, videoconferencing is possible today, but it does not look like the person you are talking with is standing in front of you.
Since its launch in 1998, Internet2 experiments have allowed doctors to perform remote surgery--a doctor in New York operated on a woman in France in 2001--and the possibilities only begin there.
Here is a full story on Internet2.

Sexual Orientation: 2%=?
Have you ever wondered about the sexual orientation of your fellow subway riders, classmates or co-workers?
Here is what men ages 18-44 consider themselves:
Heterosexual = 90%
Homosexual = 2%
Bisexual = 2%
"Something else" = 4%
But wait a minute ... that totals only 98%.
So what sexual orientation do the remaining 2% of men consider themselves? Hmm. (actually, those 2% did not answer the question).
Women seem to be a bit less focused in their love:
Heterosexual = 86%
Homosexual = 1.3%
Bisexual = 2.8%
"Something else" = 3.8%
Surprisingly to me, almost twice as many women than men reported having had some kind of same-sex experience during their lifetimes:
women = 11%
men = 6%
This data comes from a 2002 study called the National Survey of Family Growth , a survey of 12,571 men and women ages 15 to 44.
